In the creation of a high-efficiency solar cooker, every step is a blend of rugged engineering and precise craftsmanship. Following the assembly of the robust support structure, the V2SDF teacher training entered a phase focused on a critical component that bridges the frame with its reflective power.
From July 7th to 25th, 2025, within the dedicated pilot workshops at LTCR Mushasha, educators from CEM Gitaba, CEFORE Rusi, and LTCR Mushasha continued their immersive hands-on training. The focus shifted to a task requiring meticulous accuracy: the cutting of the thin metal sheeting that will form the substrate for the mirrors on the SK-23 parabolic solar cooker.
This stage is a crucial link between the heavy-duty frame and the cooker's light-capturing function. Participants learned to measure, mark, and precisely cut the sheeting to match the exact curvature and dimensions of the assembled parabolic skeleton. Each piece must be tailored to fit perfectly, creating a smooth, continuous surface ready to securely hold the reflective mirror tiles that will concentrate the sun's energy.
